Adoption – Hope or Despair?

While I was playing outside in the road with one of my friends, Mr Watts, my welfare officer, made one of his regular visits to check up on my progress. He got out of his Mini and gave me a cheery wave before he went into the house. As usual, he didn’t stay very long, mainly talking with Pearl, who then called me in to join them. He asked me a couple of questions and wrote something down before getting up and leaving.

‘I’ll be back again a bit sooner than usual,’ he said as he left. ‘That will probably be my last visit.’

I didn’t take much notice. He was in and out of my life in a flash each time, but he was quite a kind and jolly man and I liked him.
